“Our reactive process means that in the unfortunate event a business does have a confirmed case of Covid-19, we’re on site within 24 hours to assist…”
Lockdown created huge challenges for business owners this year. During a time when many of us were feeling unmotivated, frustrated and financially fragile, there was a rise in the entrepreneurial spirit of the people in Teesside who chose to see this challenge as an opportunity to prosper.
We think The Tees is the perfect place to champion these new businesses and help to give them the exposure they deserve.
Next, we have Luke Stockton and Arran Embleton who launched their business idea as a reaction to the emerging need for a local deep clean service due to the Covid-19 pandemic. As Coronavirus made its way into Teesside, their company ‘UK Fogging Solutions’ was born, offering chemical fogging services to a range of different sectors, ensuring the highest levels of cleanliness and reducing the risks of Covid-19.
Speaking with Luke, he explains how he and his business partner created their concept at such a critical time. “I come from an engineering background,” he says, “while Arran is a Master of Chemistry. Using our previous work experience with British Standards, we were able to come up with the idea of creating a deep cleaning and contamination company which would give business owners one less thing to worry about during such uncertain times.
“We were monitoring the news, keeping up to date with the situation regarding Covid-19 and looking at the potential impact this could have on businesses. We wanted to provide a service that was going to minimise disruption whilst maintaining the highest levels of cleanliness. Our reactive process means that in the unfortunate event a business does have a confirmed case of Covid-19, we’re on site within 24 hours to assist in providing our services & the peace of mind that comes with it.”
The newly launched business undertakes before and after ATP cleanliness testing (ATP testing is a process of rapidly measuring actively growing microorganisms) to prove to their clients the cleanliness levels before and after the decontamination treatment.
Speaking of the positive and negative aspects that come with launching a business in lockdown, Luke explains: “Sourcing equipment and products was difficult for us to begin with, however the one thing we did have was time on our hands. This allowed us to look at the best way our service could meet the needs of businesses post lockdown, and it allowed us to get all of our research, planning and organising sorted ready for when our services would be needed. We’ve already worked with so many businesses in Teesside, helping to not only reassure their staff, but also reassure their clients that they are taking every precaution in the fight against Covid-19.”
As concern for Covid-19 continues to grow and Middlesbrough is officially named an area of concern by the Government, it seems UK Fogging Solutions services are needed now more than ever. The team say their future plans for the business are to continue providing their services which will get businesses back up and running, as quickly as possible, in the most efficient and safe manner.

We hope our ‘businesses born in lockdown’ feature is helping showcase how positivity and creativity during times of crisis can lead to amazing results. As difficult a year as 2020 has been, there have been some exciting and life changing businesses launched. Did you know some of the most successful companies in the world were born in the aftermath of the 2008 financial crisis? Uber, Airbnb, Pinterest and Whatsapp, for example, each changing the way we travel, live and communicate with each other.
If you know of any other businesses born in lockdown, we’d love to hear about them. Get in touch with us on the details below:
