The first acts have been announced for NXTGN, Middlesbrough’s brand-new indie music all-dayer set to take place on 26th March 2022, across three stages at Teesside University SU and Westgarth Social Club.

Set to be one of the region’s first taste-maker festivals of 2022, the inaugural event will see some of the UK’s hottest emerging acts arrive on Teesside for debut appearances in the region.

Roxanne de Bastion will be showcasing tracks from her Bernard Butler-produced debut album and China Bears will be heading to NXTGN straight from their appearance at SXSW in Austin, Texas. Loose Articles join them on the line up ahead of their Foo Fighters support later next year.

Included in the first announcement are Manchester’s Blanketman and Scottish duo, MEMES, still fresh from exhilarating sets at Twisterella festival in October.

Also making the trip down from Scotland are False Friends, Wojtek the Bear and Glaswegian rockers, The Wife Guys of Reddit.

They will be joined by a number of the region’s best emerging acts in Joe Ramsey, Mt. Misery, new wavers NOPRISM and dark electro-pop siblings ZELA alongside a host of other up-and-coming talent.

Andy Carr from promoter, The Kids Are Solid Gold, says, “It’s great to finally get the first wave of NXTGN acts announced. As we know from events such as Twisterella, there’s a huge appetite for discovering great new music here on Teesside and NXTGN is very much about allowing fans to make an early connection with some of the most exciting new acts from across the UK. Most-importantly, NXTGN is going to enable north east music fans to make that connection first and get well ahead of the game. We’re incredibly excited for this line up and we’ve still got even more acts to announce.”
