Naomi of Nomechompski Crochet, which is based in Stockton on Tees, creates gifts, clothing and accessories for everyone.

“My lovely nan taught me to crochet as a child,” she says. “While I was pregnant with my little girl, I took it up again and discovered how much cute stuff you could create without it being so old fashioned like it used to be. I took it up as a hobby and I now spend the majority of my spare time doing it!”

Naomi creates crochet pieces for babies and knitted wire words for the home.

“I’m always keen to try new things,” she adds, “so custom orders are always very welcome.”

Her favourite items for this festive season are her Hohoho wreaths, which are lovely. But the most popular gift items this Christmas, she says, are the knitted wire words and crafter cups and mugs, which make great gifts at any time of the year.

Next year will be exciting for Nomechompski Crochet as Naomi is looking forward to launching a website to complement her Facebook and Etsy pages as she grows her business.

“The best thing about being a creative business in Teesside,” she says, “is the massive support I get from the other local small businesses. It’s like we’re a family and I get loads of help from them when I need it.”
